| surprise!!! it's been over 2 months since i've last blogged. not due because i've had nothing to talk about, but mainly because i just update via twitter, which in turn updates my facebook. but sometimes, more than 140 characters are needed.
today i took my homie joe to the airport. he was flying back to arizona to surprise amber for her birthday. she's been having heightened emotions lately, some have been negative, and some of those have been directed towards joe. and even though he had a delay of over an hour, along with amber's friends running her around to keep her busy, i'm rather sure that him being there to surprise her would make things much better.
and that led me to recollections of the past. while away at basic training, besides being constantly yelled at by our drill instructor, there was 1 constant on my mind. my [then] girlfriend [now my ex, obviously]. the thoughts of her, her smile, her touch, her embrace, her very being was what helped me mentally make it through basic training. and like many of the others who were in my flight, there was talk of marriage. unlike the others though, ours didn't happen right after basic. we wanted to be settled with our lives first before getting married. as i was set to graduate, she told me she wouldn't be able to make it to my graduation, due to a trip to the philippines that was planned before we got together. i understood, and with no hard feelings, i told her to have fun while away, and we would talk when she got home. little did i know she opted out of her trip, and came to surprise me at my graduation from basic.
after graduating basic, i was off to tech school [literally across the base]. but i was able to use my cell phone again [YOU try not using your cell for 6+ weeks. good luck]. and every night i would talk to her. it just felt good to hear her voice. but it was even better that i got to see her. she was my life, my everything. so being in the reserves, my dates for school had already been set. lucky for me, i got into an earlier class. and the first person i told about was my gf. i would be coming home a week earlier. the only thing on my mind was being able to see her a week earlier.
in hindsight, i should've never told her i was coming home early. i should've instead told my family, they could pick me up, and i woulda went to her work and surprise her. that would've been the best. would it change the way things ended up between us? maybe not. but i can't tell the future. and i can't change the past.
so my advice to you:
don't pass on a chance to do something nice for someone you care about. you don't have to necessarily surprise them. and it doesn't necessarily have to be a significant other, it can be a family member, or even a good friend. if you think they'll be happy, then go for it.
i'm sure one day i'll be presented with that opportunity again.

| kawika, rest in peace son.
and to all those who know any airmen, soldiers, marines, or sailors who lost their lives in the line of duty, may they rest in peace as well.
it felt REALLY good to finally have a 3 day weekend. my job doesn't like to observe too many holidays. lame. so it was just time to relax. gave my dogs a bath. and mia a haircut. pretty much chilled with my friends. but the best part was [not necessarily riding through windy 12 to lodi] watching nate ride off on steve's little ninja. it's a 500, circa the top gun era. wish i had my camera. oh well.

| i thought this was funny: waking up this morning, i open my eyes and i see my puppy lying down right in front of me. but i didn't really focus, and i thought her nose was one of her eyes, and she looked all distorted. then she licked my face and i took her and bella outside to pee.

| it's may already!
so looking back, the first 4 months of this year have passed by pretty quickly. i really can't believe it's may already. a whole bunch of stuff has happened, lots which i wish never did, but what's done is done.
so to keep myself busy, i've been snowboarding. a lot. but now the season is over. but luckily i've found a new project to keep me busy for the summer. stay tuned for that...
as for today...and really this weekend: good times. saturday we bbq'd at the house, and worked on cars. then we went out and got some drinks with friends [and almost got into a couple fights, lol]. then when we all woke up this morning, we went out to the city and just chilled. and it was going pretty good, until we almost all got killed by a cab in the city. stupid cabbies. we're just walking up the street, then we hear tires screech, and next thing we see is a cab coming straight for us. seriously. he hits the curb, breaks his axle, and drives off. lawsuit. if we got hit [and survived]. he was going pretty damn fast.

| let me start off with last night as i'm trying to sleep. mia likes to sleep on top of the pillows, while bella usually sleeps beside me. and wherever the dogs sleep, i have to find a comfortable spot for myself to sleep. well, last night, mia decides to lay down exactly above my head. no matter where i move. she moves. so i quit moving around and put my hands behind my head. and she lays her head on my arm, like it's her own personal pillow. and she's all comfortable so i don't move. and all while this is happening, bella has dug herself into my side and curled up into her little ball. oh yeah, bella curls up when she sleeps, mia lays out like a lazy bum. then when i start to wake up this morning, bella gets up from under the blanket, and lays down right beside mia. i tried to take a pic, but as soon as i got up, both the dogs got up too.
so onto snowboarding. squaw seems to be one of only a few resorts that are still open. my fave northstar closed last sunday [thankfully we were there for the last day]. i also believe sierra closed on sunday too. boreal has been closed, didn't ride there too much this season. not too bad of a park, kinda small, but riding is riding to me. so back to squaw, absolutely beautiful today. half the park was closed, so i decided to explore other parts of the mountain which i normally don't go to. pretty challenging, rode mostly blue squares, took a black diamond run, also rode around in some trees too. took some pics, mostly scenic. it's super pretty out there, being on top of the mountain, and you're able to see the lake. i need to get a fisheye and wide angle lens. i also shot some video, i'll post them later.
i'm sleepy. and i got 36+ mpg today. nice.
